Privacy Policy

Your family's footage, and what we do with it.

SkillNest stores video of children. We have written this policy to be read by a parent, not only by a lawyer — every section opens with a plain-English summary before the detail.

01The short version

In plain English

You own your footage. We store it so you don't lose it. We never sell it, never advertise against it, and never use it to train artificial intelligence. Nobody sees a video unless you share it.

  • Parents hold the accounts. Children do not create accounts or log in to SkillNest.
  • Your videos are private by default. A coach sees a clip only when you choose to share it, and you can withdraw that access at any time.
  • We never train AI on your footage. Not ours, not anyone else's. This is a commitment, not a current-practice statement.
  • We do not sell personal information and we run no advertising in SkillNest.
  • We do not profile or track children. Our analytics measure how the adult account holder uses the app.
  • You can delete everything. Deleting your account removes your library on the timeline set out in section 8.

This summary is here to help you. It is not a substitute for the sections below, which are what actually governs how we handle your information.

02Who we are and who this covers

In plain English

SkillNest is run by a company registered in the Dubai International Financial Centre. This policy covers the app and the website.

Oogwai Analytics Ltd ("SkillNest", "we", "us") is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. We are registered in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Dubai, United Arab Emirates, under registration number CL9068, at Unit GA-00-SZ-L1-RT-208 Level 1, Gate Avenue - South Zone, Dubai International Financial Centre.

This policy applies to the SkillNest mobile app, the website at getskillnest.com, and any support we provide by email.

Data protection officer

Our data protection officer can be reached at vivek@voyaige.co.

03What we collect

In plain English

Four things: who you are, the videos you upload, how the app performs on your device, and a record that you paid. We never see your card number.

Information you give us

  • Your name and email address when you create an account.
  • The first name or nickname, sport, and approximate age or age group you enter for the young athlete whose training you are recording.
  • The email address or phone number of a coach you invite, so that we can send the invitation.
  • Anything you write to us — support messages, feedback, survey answers.

Video and audio you upload

The core of the service. Training footage will normally contain images of your child, and may contain their voice, other children, coaches, and the venue. We treat this as the most sensitive category of information we hold, and it is handled accordingly throughout this policy.

We also store what you and your coach add to a video: titles, dates, sport and skill tags, and timestamped callouts.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and app data — device model, operating system version, app version, language, and a randomly generated installation identifier.
  • Usage data — which screens are opened and which features are used, so we can see what works.
  • Crash and error reports — technical diagnostics when the app fails, so we can fix it.

This is measurement of the account holder, who is an adult. We do not build behavioural profiles of children, and we do not run advertising identifiers or advertising SDKs in SkillNest.

Payment information

Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of your subscription status and the amount, but we never receive or store your full card number.

04Children's information

In plain English

SkillNest is a product for parents. Children never sign in. You upload footage of your child, you decide who sees it, and you can take it back.

SkillNest is not directed to children

SkillNest is designed and marketed for parents and coaches — adults. Children cannot create a SkillNest account, cannot sign in, and cannot upload, share, or message through the app. A child may watch footage on a parent's device, alongside the parent, using the parent's account.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child. If we learn that a child has created an account by misrepresenting their age, we will close it and delete the associated information.

How a child's information reaches us

It reaches us because a parent or guardian chooses to upload it. When you upload footage, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the young athlete shown, or that you have their parent's permission, and that you consent on their behalf to us storing and processing that footage for the purposes in section 5.

Other people in your footage

Training footage often captures other children, teammates, and coaches incidentally. Please be considerate: only upload footage you are comfortable holding, and check with your club or venue if you are unsure of their filming policy. If someone contacts us about footage of them held in your library, we will work with you to resolve it.

Four commitments about children's data

  • We do not train artificial intelligence on your footage, and we do not permit any provider we use to do so.
  • We do not profile, track, or behaviourally monitor children, and we serve no targeted advertising of any kind.
  • We do not run facial recognition or biometric identification on video. Our organising features work from the date, sport, and skill labels you provide — not from analysing faces or bodies.
  • We do not disclose children's information to third parties for advertising or for developing or training AI, in any circumstances.

Parents in the United States

Because we do not collect personal information online from children under 13 — parents hold every account — the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act's parental-consent mechanism does not apply to our service in the ordinary case. Regardless, as the parent you may at any time review the information in your library, refuse to permit its further use, and require us to delete it, by writing to support@getskillnest.com.

Parents in India

India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act treats anyone under 18 as a child. Where we process the personal data of a child in India, we do so on the basis of verifiable consent given by you as parent or lawful guardian, and we do not track, monitor, or profile children or direct advertising at them.

Parents in the EEA

Where the lawful basis for processing your child's footage is consent, that consent is given by you as the holder of parental responsibility, and you may withdraw it at any time by deleting the footage or your account.

05Why we use your information, and our legal basis

In plain English

To run the service you signed up for, to keep it working, and to bill you. Nothing else.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether our interest is overridden by your rights, and you may object at any time under section 10.

Comply with a legal obligation means processing your personal data where it is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation that we are subject to. We may also process your Personal Information in accordance with additional legal bases permitted under applicable data protection laws, including but not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the DIFC Data Protection Law, DIFC Law No. 5 of 2020, Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the UK GDPR, and U.S. State Privacy Laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and any such applicable laws.

06Who we share it with

In plain English

Coaches you personally invite, and the companies that run our infrastructure. That's the whole list. We do not sell your information.

Coaches you invite

When you share a clip, the coach you invited can watch it and leave callouts on it. A coach sees only what you share — never your whole library by default. You can revoke a coach's access at any time from the app, which removes their ability to view the footage going forward.

Coaches accept terms requiring them to use footage only to give feedback to you, to keep it confidential, and not to download, republish, or share it onward. We cannot technically prevent someone from screen-recording a video, so share with coaches you know and trust.

Companies that run our infrastructure

These providers process information on our instructions, under written contracts that restrict them to our purposes and require appropriate security.

A current list is maintained here and updated when it changes.

Legal and safety

We may disclose information where we are legally required to, or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect a child from harm. If we ever receive a legal demand for your footage, we will tell you unless we are prohibited from doing so.

If the business changes hands

If SkillNest is acquired or merges, your information may transfer to the new owner. It stays subject to this policy until you are told otherwise, and you will be told in advance.

What we never do

We do not sell or share personal information for money or for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used under California and other US state privacy laws. We have never done so, and we have no plans to.

07Where your information is stored

In plain English

Your footage sits on servers in Mumbai, India. We are based in Dubai. Where the law requires extra safeguards for moving data across borders, we have them in place.

SkillNest is operated from the DIFC, Dubai. Video content is stored with Backblaze B2 in Mumbai, India and delivered through Cloudflare's global network, which means content may be cached temporarily on servers close to whoever is watching.

Where we transfer personal information out of the EEA or the DIFC to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses — the EU Commission's clauses for EEA data, and the DIFC's Article 24 clauses for DIFC data — together with additional technical measures including encryption in transit and at rest. You can request a copy of the relevant safeguards from support@getskillnest.com.

08How long we keep it

In plain English

Your footage stays as long as your account is open. If you stop paying, we hold your originals for 12 months before removing them — and we tell you before that happens.

WhatHow long
Video in an active accountUntil you delete it or close your account
Original-quality video after you downgrade from a paid planHeld in archive storage for 12 months, then deleted. We email you before deletion.
Standard-quality versions of your videosRetained while your account is open, within your plan's allowance
Account and profile detailsUntil you close your account, then deleted within 30 days
Backups containing deleted contentOverwritten within 35 days
Billing and tax recordsAs required by law, typically 7 years
Crash diagnostics90 days
Analytics data14 months
Support correspondence24 months

Storage allowances are measured in minutes of video rather than gigabytes, because minutes are what a parent can actually picture. Your current plan's allowance is shown in the app.

09How we protect it

In plain English

Encrypted in transit and at rest, access limited to the few people who need it, and links that expire.

  • All traffic between your device and SkillNest is encrypted using TLS.
  • Stored video is encrypted at rest.
  • Video is served through short-lived signed URLs, so a link copied out of the app stops working.
  • Access to production systems is restricted to staff who need it, protected by multi-factor authentication, and logged.
  • We keep a record of our processing activities and review our providers' security arrangements.

No service can promise perfect security. If a breach affects your information and is likely to result in a risk to your rights, we will notify you and the relevant regulator — including the DIFC Commissioner of Data Protection — without undue delay.

10Your rights

In plain English

You can see what we hold, correct it, take it with you, or have it deleted. Email us and we'll act within a month. It's free.

Depending on where you live, you have rights to: access the information we hold about you and your child; correct anything inaccurate; delete it; restrict or object to how we use it; receive it in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time without affecting what we did before you withdrew it. We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone.

As the parent or guardian, you exercise these rights on behalf of your child.

How to exercise them

Email support@getskillnest.com from the address on your account. We respond within one month, and will tell you if we need longer because a request is complex. There is no charge. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request about a video library.

If you are in the United States

Residents of California and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing. As set out in section 6, we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any right. You may use an authorised agent, and you may appeal a decision by writing to support@getskillnest.com with "Appeal" in the subject line.

If you want to complain

Please come to us first — most things are quicker to fix directly. If you remain unhappy, you can complain to the DIFC Commissioner of Data Protection (difc.com), to your national data protection authority if you are in the EEA, or to the Data Protection Board of India if you are in India.

11Changes to this policy

In plain English

If we change something that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.

We update this policy as the product changes. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version. For material changes — a new category of information, a new purpose, a new recipient — we will give you notice in the app or by email at least 14 days beforehand. Previous versions are available on request.
